Jovrine Kaliisa Kyomukama, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer for Ibanda District, was officially nominated by the Electoral Commission to contest in the upcoming elections.
The nomination exercise took place at the Ibanda District Electoral Commission offices at 9:40am today.
Speaking after her nomination, Kyomukama thanked the people of Ibanda and NRM leadership for their support and trust.
“I am deeply humbled by the confidence that the party and the people of Ibanda have placed in me. I pledge to continue serving with dedication, integrity, and a firm commitment to the development of our district,” she said.
Kyomukama, who previously served as the Ibanda District Woman MP and as Deputy National Coordinator for the Parish Development Model (PDM), said her priorities will include improving service delivery, empowering women and youth, and strengthening community-based initiatives.
“My focus remains transforming Ibanda through inclusive development programs that address the real needs of our people,” she added.
Ibanda District Returning Officer Aidah Barekye confirmed Kyomukama’s successful nomination, noting that the exercise complied with all Electoral Commission regulations.
“Ms Jovrine Kyomukama has met all the legal requirements and has been duly nominated as the NRM flag bearer for Ibanda District. The process was smooth and transparent,” Barekye stated.
Several NRM supporters gathered outside the nomination center to celebrate, chanting party slogans and carrying placards of support. One supporter described Kyomukama as a “true daughter of Ibanda” who has “consistently championed the welfare of women and youth.”
Local NRM leaders also pledged to rally behind her to ensure the party’s victory in the upcoming elections.
Kyomukama called for unity among NRM members and supporters in Ibanda. “Let us stand together as one family under the NRM banner and reject divisions based on tribe or religion. Our common goal is to build a prosperous Ibanda where every citizen has an opportunity to thrive,” she concluded.
